African American Baby Shower Invitations: The Explosion of the Baby Shower Industry

Who knew that baby shower invitations were such a booming industry?  In Canada, the United States and in an ever-growing list of countries , the baby shower is a much loved tradition in celebrating a family or friend’s impending arrival.

While many think the term “Baby Shower” was born meaning that people shower the mother to be with gifts, the concept of a baby shower is actually first credited to a German immigrant named Franz Schauer (pronounced shower).  Schauer came up with the idea in the 18th century when the jewelry merchant wanted to devise another way to sell his goods and realized he could come up with a new way to convince the wealthy New York families to exchange gifts.  While the baby shower has historically been held by women for women, there is a morphing and blending among the country’s population that has made it more normal, and acceptable for both men and women to attend these showers; and even in some cases, men only showers side by side with the traditional women only showers.

The baby shower is also growing in popularity around the world as the internet shrinks the size of scope of the planet.  While clearly still a uniquely American celebration, the baby shower is starting to spread to Canada, Great Britain, Africa, Asia and Latin America.  Inventive Games, crazy prizes and great food are all a staple of the baby shower, and without one simple factor none of the fun could be had.  Baby shower invitations have become the opening round of the fun, as the public has seen the invitations morph from basic white paper with some nice calligraphy into all sorts of shapes and designs.  Now comes the invitations designed for different ethnic groups and races.

Purely African American baby shower invitations are one of the newer arrivals on the scene.  Websites abound with a wide variety of baby shower gifts and apparel of any size, shape or color.  They’ve got everything a person planning such an event could possibly need.  The net allows busy new moms and dads to be who don’t have the hours necessary to physically go shopping find not only what they’re looking for, but give them suggestions of things they never knew they needed.  Baptism announcements, Top 10 baby shower themes, decorations, centerpieces, party favors and even do it yourself baby shower sections allow someone to cut work and effort on planning down to a minimum.

Along with the African American baby shower invitations, there’s a whole array of African baby shower paraphernalia including the little plastic babies that are used in various games kits, with 20 piece sets, party supplies, and candies all geared at making sure that no one is left out of the baby shower fun.  All of this means that a tradition that was once geared at a specific group of people has grown to incorporate anyone who has an interest in this beloved, and entertaining American institution.
